Urban Senior Living Communities

The following is a sampling of urbanSenior communities, beginning with Pacific Place, which have been created as an option for seniors who want to remain connected to their town centers and all the attractions and services found there. These communities promote health and wellness, independence and access to the variety of life. For more information on any of these communities contact: hpd@hpdcambridge.com

PACIFIC PLACE
In 1986 David Sanders initiated the development of Pacific Place, the first urbanSenior housing project. Pacific Place is an excellent example of a smaller-scale, mixed-use senior living development. Its success is largely a result of its prime location in a neighborhood retail and business district. This pedestrian friendly district offers multiple restaurants, Commerce Bank, Webster University campus, the Repertory Theatre, St. Louis Opera Theatre, Colonial Pharmacy, Natural Way Health food store, Old Orchard Spa, the Old Orchard Gallery, Great Clips and Tropical Moose within a very short and pleasant walk.

The 35-unit independent senior living community offers one and two bedroom apartments, 625 to 1250 square feet in size. The spacious floor plans, short corridors and intimate garden areas emphasize the residential atmosphere. A public restaurant, the Big Sky Café, is located in our building on S. Old Orchard Ave., and serves people from all over the St. Louis area, as well as providing optional meals for the residents of Pacific Place.

In 1997, HPD designed and constructed two cottages with private patios on a small piece of property adjacent to the main building. Each unit offers a dining area, bay windows two bedrooms and two baths. These cottages have been very popular and seldom change hands. In 2008, an adjacent retail property was purchased by Pacific Place and now houses 4 retail tenants; a spa, an art gallery/event space, shaved ice treats, Great Clips and a florist.

ORCHARD HOUSE (Bethesda Orchard) –
Bethesda Orchard is uniquely situated within the Old Orchard Business District. Independent seniors are offered immediate and convenient access to the shops, services and entertainment of the district. Bethesda Orchard consists of 173 one and two bedroom apartments, gardens, and 25,000 sf of office and retail space located on Big Bend.

NORTHWEST PLACE
This very attractive independent urbanSenior living community is strategically located one block from the Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital medical community. The project is well integrated into the vibrant Northwest Portland neighborhood of shops, restaurants, banks and other retail found along 23rd Street. It is surrounded by very attractive single family homes, and residents are able to walk to a broad range of services, entertainment and shopping opportunities within 3 to 4 blocks of the front door.

ADAMS PLACE
Adams Place offers 44 urbanSenior apartments specifically designed for the present and future needs of older adults. The mixed-use community contains 15,000 square feet of retail space and a fine public restaurant (Sunset 44), which attracts people from the entire St. Louis area, while also providing excellent meals for the Adams Place residents. This small scale community has been serving independent active seniors since it opened in Kirkwood in 1991.

CLEAR CREEK COMMONS
Golden, Colorado is located in the foothills of Denver. It small and charming downtown district offers a selection of shopping, dining, banking and entertainment options. Clear Creek Commons is on Washington Avenue and overlooks Clear Creek, with its kayakers and fly fishermen. It is a very pedestrian friendly downtown with wide sidewalks and wonderful bronze sculpture along the main street. There are spacious one and two bedroom apartments, and a very nice living room and common activity area.
