UrbanSenior Restaurants

Throughout our lives, we are accustomed to eating when we want to.  Most of us are particular about our food.  We may question how it’s cooked, whether it’s hot enough, how it is seasoned and of course, most importantly, determining if we like it or not.

In our homes we cook to satisfy our own tastes and adjust the time for dinner to suit our schedules and mood.  If we don’t feel like cooking, we jump in the car and find a favorite restaurant or bring home some “take out” food.

Most retirement communities require residents to eat at least one meal per day in the dining room.  This is presented as one of the services included in the monthly fee…presumably an advantage to everyone.

The primary reason for requiring residents to eat in the dining room is the cost of constructing, staffing and operating a dining room in the building for the convenience of those using the dining room.

To meet the operational expenses, it is necessary to have people use the dining room and pay for meals accordingly.  The residents are typically given no choice.  It is usually dining with the same people, in the same place, for may years  The dining rooms and the food can become very institutional and over time even boring.

UrbanSenior Living Communities have replaced this mandatory approach with an optional dining program which provides food in a non-institutional setting.

The goal is to provide excellent dining and preserve choices for residents.  Each UrbanSenior Community includes a public restaurant.  The restaurant serves meals and provides for the needs of the residents.

UrbanSenior restaurants can operate in this manner because the locations are within neighborhood shopping districts.  Unlike isolated suburban sites, these areas attract patrons with all of the neighborhood activities.

Restaurants, like the Big Sky Café, in St. Louis, Missouri, offer excellent food to the residents of Pacific Place Retirement Community and the general public as well.

The Big Sky Café may be a favorite dining location for people on their way to the theater, or out for an anniversary celebration.  The residents who dine there always receive great service and great prices with special seating early in the evening.

UrbanSenior restaurants are operated by successful, local restaurateurs.  They  are required to provide special meals, fixed meal prices, room service if requested and priority seating to the residents of the UrbanSenior Living Community.

The environment is always exciting and tasteful.  Family and friends feel very comfortable dining with the residents in this restaurant setting.  Consequently, they come for dinner more often and do not feel out of place when they do.

While each restaurant develops it’s own unique local menu, the quality of the dining experience provided in UrbanSenior Living Community is delicious and enjoyable.

When ever you are in the mood for something a little bit different, or are just looking for a change of scenery, there are dozens of other restaurants all within walking distance.  Restaurants like Cyrano’s, Roadhouse, and Cravings all offer a variety of menu options, and always appreciate the business.  Walking to and from diner makes it a little easier to order desert too.
